I really enjoyed this class over the summer semester and I think everything that we discussed in the class should continue be discussed and teach. I especially love learning about the different types of killers during that time period and the way they killed people. I think we should keep that part in the class because it shows that the crimes like murder did not just start, it started decades ago.

The Victorians monster that I felt was a gender role has to be Dracula simply because he was so evil towards the women especially the ones that was not a virgin or considered a hoe. Which was something that was looked deeply upon during the Victorian Era. Women were supposed to pretty saint and Angels. All of the monsters all wanted their way and to be known for having money and living the best of both worlds. They wanted to do the judging but not be judge especially when it came to women during that time. The women victims was not spared if not living the life that was accepted socially. Back then women listened to men and accepted everything but now women during this time of age hardly accept things from men and defend their selves more.

I think that the Victorians was just as passionate about their technology and moving forward with the future just like we are in today’s time. Just like then we are always coming up with new ways to improve technology and their wanting to improve thing has helped us out in many ways in today’s time. Dickens was a special man and was thinking further in the future than his time which we still used today. I think the Twitter star for the Victorians would have been Charles Dickens simply because he was always thinking about the future and was not afraid to try new things to become better and learn from. The passion has not changed since the Victorians Era just made it better and moving faster.

My opinion about Dracula is that I did not think that he would be so evil but yet so charming in such a way that you willing falls into his trap. By reading the novel I noticed how Dracula kept giving his victims the option of determine their faith. I also noticed how Dracula was determined to have the woman or whatever it is that he wanted without anything stopping him. I thought Dracula was going to be the handsome well built man. The brides all had their own special look and they all had their on purpose but they all were dedicated to Dracula and was willing to fight for him. Johnathan Harker was actually what I expected to him to be and was not disappointed of him in the end.

In our day of time we interpreted Dracula as being an evil person or someone that certain people worship and seem unstoppable. We still think that vampires suck our blood and turn humans into vampires on full moons at night. We also have the movies like ,” Twilight” that shows vampires being the good people and fighting to have peace among the humans and just want true love. Our modern view on vampires shows them just wanting to fit in and not being such evil creatures that just wants to be humans too. Vampires are important to us now because in today’s time even humans are different in so many ways and the world feel the to want to accept everybody in any form in certain cases.

In today’s time I think people are a lot like Dorian Gray because people are still scared to admit the fact that they are older than what they really are and wants to stay looking older. People have all kind of surgeries to lose weight, put injections in their faces to try to get rid or prevent wrinkles which is pretty much poison. I think all of this is just to be accepted in society eyes or to make others feels bad about their selves for not fitting the image approved. I do no think that we are successful with that because people has died or end up still alone in this world or with many health issues. Being beautiful or handsome will not make up being alone or change the actual truth or who you once was.

If I could find or invent a way to make myself become invisible, I probably would as long ”it is not a permanent thing and i can control when I want to be and when I do not want to be invisible. I think I would use my new gift for good and try to help as many people as I can in my family, friends or just in this world in general. But if I had the opportunity to haunt someone i think it would be an ex of mine. the reason why would be for my own funny reasons and payback for all of the hurt he caused me during our relationship. I would not do anything to hurt him physically but i would play many tricks on him and make him think that he is crazy . lol

I think the Invisible Man mistake searching for invisibility was the fact that he was trying so hard to fit in and to be accepted by society that he was willing to do any and everything to accomplish that even though he made himself to accomplish that but still was not being seen. He ignored everything because he just wanted the acceptance and to be normal in society eyes and I think he was just looking for that happiness instead of just loving himself but I think that was just to impossible in the Victorian Era. I think the invisible man just went wrong when he was clearly ignoring all of the signs and was in such a rush to get rid of himself altogether.

I think this story is still around and constantly remade in today’s time is because a lot of people can relate to the characters in many ways. People live a life for the public , to keep up this perfect life to fit in socially or to make other people happy or try not to disappoint love ones. Which is something the character Doctor Jekyll was doing but making Mr. Hyde made it for him to have the best of both worlds without being judge. The theme continues to appear in our heroes because they are just like Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde trying to live two different lives while being accepted by everyone without being judge. Like the heroes want to have a family life and regular job but also want to save the world and get the praise when needed while being the hero. Keeping their identities hidden gives them the best of both worlds.
