Goblin Market

I think the poem relates to modern time is how people especially young girls be tempted by temptation even though we know it is probably be something wrong but feels so right at that particular moment. I think the fruits in the poem could symbolize love, sex, money, fame, anything material wise or something as simple as attention from the opposite sex. I think it did have a deeper meaning for the Victorians back then, it could have meant something as simple as just having money or power with the poorer Victorians. The poem shows how one chose to take the higher road but the other chose to wonder and find out about the forbidden. Some people have to learn a lesson the hard way, while others learn a lesson from watching others mistakes.
